Packed with character and charm, Buntingford is a quaint historic market town set in the Hertfordshire countryside. With lots of appeal and activities to enjoy, we’ve handpicked our highlights for you to enjoy.

Food and Drink

Experience an award-winning restaurant in action when you book a table at The Buntingford Kitchen. Located at 69 High Street, this recently renovated grade II listed building treats guests to a friendly fine-dining experience in an intimate 40-seater environment. Choose from its celebrated a la carte or family Sunday roast menu for the best of British and the finest fresh ingredients. Have a reason to celebrate? We recommend reserving the Bourne Snug, a semi-private dining room with space for up to eight guests.

The aptly-named Buntingford Coffee Shop won’t fail to disappoint if you’re looking for your next caffeine fix. Open seven days a week, why not stop by for a light bite during the day, enjoy mid-week tapas evenings with live music or vintage tea afternoons throughout the year.

Located in the centre of the town, Billings steak and seafood restaurant serves locally-sourced produce six days a week. With ingredient-focused menus, Billings specialises in freshly caught seafood and is inspired by classic British cuisine. Pop in for a light lunch or enjoy a delicious evening meal. Sunday roasts are also served on weekends, making it an ideal venue for a range of occasions.

Delissimo is one of Buntingford’s most popular destinations. A family-run café with a town-centre location, Delissimo sees you through from breakfast to lunch, serving a selection of homemade sandwiches and cakes to eat in or take away. With fresh food prepared daily, it’s a great place to stop and refuel as you explore the town.

For something a little different, why not visit The Cheese Plate at 26 high Street, an award-winning cheesemonger offering an extensive range of British and continental artisan cheese and chutneys. Visitors can taste-test a board, try new flavours and even enjoy a dine-in experience. Hampers, wholesale and catering offers are also available for visiting cheese lovers.

The A10 runs through the town connecting Royston to the north and Puckeridge to the south. The Aviva 331 is the main bus service from Hertford to Royston, stopping in Buntingford town centre and opposite local educational establishments to connect this charming market town to larger city amenities and other rural delights. Rail links in neighbouring Royston take commuters to central London in less than an hour, while Stanstead airport is just a 30-minute drive for international travel.
