First residents move in at New Hornsey housing development
The first residents have moved in at a new housing development in Hornsey.
Fairview New Homes has welcomed the first occupants to its Altitude development, off Hampden Road.
The Enfield-based developer is building 119 new homes across two buildings at Altitude, which was previously home to a steel yard and office buildings known as Wilmott House.
Planning permission for the development was granted in November 2017, and the site officially launched to the public in November 2018.
When complete, the development will comprise a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments across two buildings.
Among the first people to move in at Altitude were first-time buyers Chris Hoyle and Marianne Long.
The couple, who were previously living in Brixton, purchased a two-bedroom apartment using the London Help to Buy scheme.
Chris said: “We know North London quite well from our university days and we still have friends in the Finsbury Park area, so we began looking in that general area and found that Hornsey didn’t just have great transport links but also represented good value for money.
“While we were looking around Hornsey, we spotted Altitude and when we found out Fairview was hosting a Help to Buy Roadshow at the development, we were keen to go along and find out if the scheme could help us.
“It turned out to be a great decision and after viewing both the show apartment and the apartment we would later buy, we knew we wanted our first home to be here.
“Hornsey’s a great up and coming area with the regeneration works, while Crouch End and Harringay offer some great restaurants and nights out.”
The London Help to Buy scheme is available on all properties at Altitude and enables buyers to purchase a home with a five per cent deposit and 55 per cent mortgage.
The remaining 40 per cent is provided as an equity loan, which remains interest-free for the first five years.
Andy Georgiou, Sales and Marketing Director at Fairview New Homes, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Chris, Marianne and the first residents to Altitude and hope they will enjoy many happy years here.
“The apartments at Altitude offer a contemporary, high-quality specification in an up-and-coming area, and with its location next to Hornsey Station, the development has attracted a high level of interest from first-time buyers and commuters.”
