Fairview New Homes Spreads the Gift of Reading to Children in Barnet this Christmas

London developer, Fairview New Homes and its team at Park Quarter, one of its newest developments on Albert Road in New Barnet, have gifted hundreds of books to three local schools, meaning 2,476 pupils will have access to new literature this festive season and for the new year.

Pupils at Cromer Road Primary School, Danegrove Primary School and East Barnet Secondary School, were gifted collections of fiction and non-fiction textbooks by Park Quarter staff on Friday 13th December, to spread festive cheer and stock up libraries ahead of the new year. The gifting was inspired by Barnet’s rich literary ties, allegedly being the basis of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist.

The outreach was part of Fairview’s Christmas giving programme, which has previously seen local teams gift Christmas trees and hampers to NHS staff as well as donations to local school fairs and raffles.

Nivine Ismail, Senior Sales Manager at Fairview New Homes said: “We’ve received an overwhelming response from local schools iterating the need for new books to stock up their libraries, and we are glad to have been able to help.

“The request for books varied from maths and sciences textbooks, and life guides for teenagers, to children’s story books - showing us just how much young pupils rely on reading for all aspects of their learning, and how in need schools are of support from local businesses. It was a lovely change of pace for our team to get out and spread some festive cheer, as well as meeting all the local pupils and staff.”
